The story of Blue Mind Surf & Yoga Tribe – we often get the question how Sandra & Khalid met and how the surf & yoga project in Morocco came alive. So here is our little personal story in short form for you.
Khalid started surfing at the age of 7. Sharing his passion for surfing and his love for the ocean has always been a priority in his life. With only one stolen board (we are not proud of it) and a few hundred Euros in his pocket he started Banana Surf Morocco in his early twenties while he was already working for different surf camps and schools. He invested all his savings into a website and managed to find his first clients for surf lessons and trips. Over the years he builded his dream with love, passion and a lot of hard work.
A little camp with two rooms for a maximum of 5 guests followed: Banana House, which is now our surf school at Aourir Beach. During this time he met Sandra who was teaching a Yoga & Surf Retreat in the area. Even though both had already build their lifes independently they fell in love. Sandra was living in Germany teaching yoga classes and teacher trainings but was travelling a lot to teach yoga retreats worldwide especially in India. It was a challenging situation for both and they had to overcome a lot of difficulties but finally their love was stronger. They managed to share their life and passion for surfing, yoga and the ocean together and the highlight of their young love was for sure the birth of their son Lunis in October 2018.
Blue Mind Surf & Yoga Tribe Morcocco was born
After a long search for the location of their dreams they finally found the house in Tamraght in early 2019. The project was big for them and the investment which was needed asked them to put all their trust and confident in it. They did because they both had the strong feeling that it is meant to be and they knew if they follow their passion they can succeed. So months of hard work, planning and organizing followed and on 10th of October 2019 they could finally open the doors of Blue Mind Surf & Yoga Tribe for their very first guests.
Since then we have been happy to fill the house with love, joy and a lot of good memories together with all guests. We are grateful for everyone who is part of it and we are looking forward to the days when the worldwide quarantine because of covid-19 is over and we can open our doors again to welcome surfers & yogis from all over the world.
